There
are two types of marine insurance available - All Risk and Total
Loss, and are explained below.
Total Loss Insurance is available for any and
all shipments. Total Loss insurance covers the following
conditions:
Loss
of or damage to the subject-matter insured reasonably attributable
to fire or explosion; vessel or craft being stranded, grounded,
sunk or capsized; overturning or derailment of land conveyance;
collision or contact of vessel craft or conveyance with any
external object other than water; discharge of cargo at a
port of distress. Loss of or damage to the subject-matter
insured caused by General Average sacrifice; jettison.
There
is no deductible for a Total Loss policy.
All Risk Insurance is only available
when shipments have been professionally packed (ie, when Aliyah
Lift Shipping does the packing), with a few exceptions. All
Risk insurance allow a claim to be made for damaged and broken
items. There is a small deductible.
Important Insurance Information:
- For
optimum coverage it is best to complete and return your insurance
information 2 to 3 working days before your pick up date.
- An
insurance policy takes effect about a day after the completed
application is received in our office. Insurance policies
are not retroactive to the packing date if received
late.
- For
shipments storage in either the US/Canada or in Israel beyond
the regular consolidation time span, there is a monthly insurance
charge for contiguous coverage.
